Soso by Samuel Feldhandler

Carrying on Samuel Feldhandler’s multi-faceted choreographic endeavors, Soso invites a plenitude of interpretation and composition techniques (such as canons, quotes, fugues, or inversions, to name only a very few) to mix and mingle within an hour of dance dedicated to Samuel’s grandmother: Soso.

Sonia Feldhandler (called Soso) was born in France in 1933 as Sonia Krajsztajn and the daughter of Jewish-Polish parents. Her father left for the front in 1939 and her mother was arrested in 1942. Helped by neighbors and relatives, Soso managed to hide in a small town in Switzerland until she was reunited with her parents in 1946.

Today, over three quarters of a century and many, many stories later, two of her grandchildren are here, working together to bring to life the dance portrait: Soso.
